Spring, as we know, is the time for the wintry cold and rough weather to subside and make way for the cool, sometimes windy and rainy spring weather to come through. It’s a time of growth, a time of birth for all things and a time for cleansing.
There are certain foods that are important to eat during the spring weather to keep your body functioning well during the season. They’re packed with micro-nutrients and have fiber which help to fill you up faster and help you shed unnecessary weight.
These include: artichokes, asparagus, broccoli, collard greens, fiddlehead ferns, green beans, honeydew, jackfruit, lychee, mango, oranges, pineapple, radicchio, snow peas, spinach, strawberry, Swiss chard, and watercress.
Eating an abundance of these foods will energize you and help you move that winter weight you might have gained. Starchy carbs like bread and rice should be limited at this time.
Make sure you also add exercise if you haven’t already been exercising. Things like using the stairs instead of the elevator, parking a few blocks away from work, and going for a 20-30 minute walk after you eat lunch will add up over the coming weeks and months. Health isn’t about diets. It’s about every day habits that are like saving money in the bank for your well-being. Over time you’ll have the most important type of abundance there is.
